If you’re exploring Bushwick and craving something soulful yet relaxed, let me introduce you to Tabaré Bushwick, an Uruguayan restaurant tucked into the neighborhood at 1006 Flushing Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237, United States. From the moment you walk up, the place feels approachable and lived-in, the kind of spot locals quietly recommend to friends who want real food without the fuss. Inside, the atmosphere leans warm and casual, blending Latin character with a Brooklyn edge, while the menu reflects the comforting, honest flavors that define Uruguayan cooking. I always describe Tabaré Bushwick as a place where you can slow down, order a few small plates, and let the conversation stretch while drinks arrive at an easy pace. The bar program is just as inviting as the kitchen, offering beer, wine, and thoughtfully mixed cocktails, plus spirits for anyone in the mood to linger a little longer. If you’re stopping by earlier in the day, coffee is on hand, and later on, happy-hour drinks and late-night food make it a reliable choice when plans run long. What really stands out is how flexible the experience feels; you can settle in for a relaxed dine-in meal, grab takeaway on a busy evening, or use delivery and no-contact delivery when staying in sounds better. Outdoor seating adds another layer during warmer months, giving the space a neighborhood hangout vibe, while kerbside pickup keeps things practical. The food itself leans toward comfort food with care, featuring organic dishes alongside vegan and vegetarian options that don’t feel like afterthoughts, and the small plates format makes sharing feel natural. Everything comes together in a way that feels unpretentious yet confident, making Tabaré Bushwick easy to recommend whether you’re introducing someone to Uruguayan flavors for the first time or just looking for a dependable, welcoming restaurant in Bushwick.

We were in the mood for a well-cooked steak nothing fine dining, just solid food and this place delivered. Cozy spot, great service, and very well-executed dishes; you can tell they know what they’re doing with meat. For two, the parrillada for one and the ribeye work perfectly. Both were flavorful, tender, and rich. The breaded chicken was also excellent crispy and juicy. We had a beer and a tinto de verano, both on point. Empanadas are worth ordering too.
Tabaré is a total gem. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting with a cool, rustic aesthetic that fits perfectly in the neighborhood. Every dish we tried was full of flavor. The grilled octopus and the Uruguayan empanadas were standouts. You can tell the kitchen puts care into every plate. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Our server took the time to walk us through the menu and gave excellent recommendations. The cocktails were also top-notch. Creative, strong, and very well balanced. This is the kind of place that works for a casual night out, a date, or dinner with friends. I’ll definitely be back soon. Highly recommend.
What an incredible and authentic experience. Everyone was friendly, food is delicious and the restaurant is inviting. Tabare is just fantastic. I highly recommend this unique gem.
